And yet, despite having access to more business data than at any point in history, organisations continue to be surprised by declining productivity, rising turnover, slowing execution and unexpected performance gaps.

The answer isn't that organisations lack data. Finance teams monitor costs in real time. HR systems capture workforce data. Operational platforms track efficiency. Business Intelligence has transformed our ability to measure performance.

But measuring performance is not the same as understanding it.

Traditional KPIs tell us what has happened. What they often don't tell us is what created those results, whether the underlying conditions are changing, or where the next risk is already beginning to emerge.
